Sonya Yoncheva to Perform Dido and Aeneas and Erwartung in Munich

The Bavarian State Opera presents a double bill featuring Purcell's Dido and Aeneas paired with Schoenberg's Erwartung. Sonya Yoncheva takes the leading roles in both works, performing baroque and modernist repertoire in the same evening.

Purcell's opera tells the story of the Queen of Carthage and her relationship with Aeneas, while Schoenberg's monodrama explores a woman's nocturnal search for her lover. The pairing highlights the contrast between baroque and early twentieth-century musical languages.
